AUDITION FOR CROOKED ROAD!

Streetlamp Studio is holding auditions for the 2nd run of Crooked Road, a play with music written by new and emerging playwright Erin Gaw and directed by Streetlamp’s most recent and acclaimed director Naisa Wong. The show was originally mounted in March 2011 to sold-out audiences for every performance.

Auditions will be held on:
(1) Saturday, May 14th, from 1-6pm
(2) Saturday, May 21st, from 10am-4pm
(3) Saturday, June 4th, from 10am-6pm

Rehearsals will begin in mid-June 2011 with weekend performances in the last 2 weekends of July and the 1st week of August 2011. This play is NOT a musical although a few of the characters must sing and/or be able to play an instrument. Small stipend will be offered.

Actors Needed:
Mary Davis – African-American, female, 20s-30s (Actor)
Sarah – Any ethnicity, female, 20s-30s (Actor)
Sophia Shepherd – Caucasian, female, late 30s-40s (Actor/Singer)
Walter Morris – African-American, male, 50s-60s (Actor)

Synopsis:
Anne Morris was a student at the University of Southern California, a talented musician, and girlfriend to the man of her dreams, Erik Miller. But when her mom gets sick she goes home, leaving behind her education, her musical aspirations and Erik. It is now eight years later, and she is desperately trying to keep her once rich and successful father from losing everything after the economy takes a dive. With the help of her Aunt Laurel, Anne convinces her father to begrudgingly rent his home to make extra much needed income. The new tenants are the members of the indie band Local Boy, which has become well loved after a high selling first album. Anne is brought face-to-face with her past when it turns out the band’s lead singer is her lost love Erik Miller, whose affection for her has vanished. Anne and Erik are often thrown together through mutual friends and connections, who know nothing of their past relationship, and though it is clear that he hasn’t forgiven her for leaving him, his band mates become attached to her quickly. As she is taken into the band’s community she realizes that she may have a second chance at the life she deserted in college.
