When Justice and Peace Kiss is Streetlamp’s annual poetry and music concert. Youth from the South Los Angeles neighborhood are mentored for one month by professional musicians and spoken word artists. During this collaboration the youth are helped to write poetry, songs and raps that are then rehearsed and performed alongside the professionals. The entire program is done in collaboration with our partner organization, Redeemer Community Partners who continue to develop the youth in leadership throughout the entire school year.
This year we are expanding When Justice and Peace Kiss into a two month program. Scott Johnson, our educational outreach director will instruct a select group of youth in an eight week music course which will culminate in performances at When Justice and Peace Kiss along with other youth.
